A Beable Interpretation of the GRW Spontaneous Collapse Model

چکیده
We extend the beable interpretation, due to Bell, to the Ghirardi, Rimini and Weber [GRW] model of spontaneous collapse of the wave function. Results obtained by Vink are generalized to the modified Schrödinger equation of Ghirardi, Pearle and Rimini [GPR], which allows a beable interpretation for both position and momentum.

A Beable Interpretation of the Continuous Spontaneous Localization Model
We extend the beable interpretation, due to Bell, to the continuous spontaneous localization model (CSL). Results obtained by Vink are generalized to the modified Schrödinger equation of Ghirardi, Pearle and Rimini (GPR), which allows a beable interpretation for both position and momentum.

After finding analogies between turbulence and the beable interpretation of the spontaneous collapse model of the wave function, we unravel the underlying Lévy dynamics in such model. Using an affine noise in the collapse process, we obtain the intermittency corrections to Richardson’s t law for the turbulent diffusion. PACS: 05.40.Fb, 03.65.Bz, 02.50.Ey Typeset using REVTEX

The “measurement problem” can be thought of as indicating a serious flaw in the foundations of quantum theory[1], and therefore a potential clue to new physics. When a measurement is described by Schrödinger’s equation, the statevector evolves to a superposition of apparatus states, each recording a different outcome. This conflicts with the interpretation of the statevector as describing “real...
متن کاملOn Spontaneous Wave Function Collapse and Quantum Field Theory
One way of obtaining a version of quantum mechanics without observers, and thus of solving the paradoxes of quantum mechanics, is to modify the Schrödinger evolution by implementing spontaneous collapses of the wave function. An explicit model of this kind was proposed in 1986 by Ghirardi, Rimini, and Weber (GRW), involving a nonlinear, stochastic evolution of the wave function. We point out ho...
متن کاملCollapse and Relativity
Ever since we have been in the possession of quantum theories without observers, such as Bohmian mechanics or the Ghirardi–Rimini–Weber (GRW) theory of spontaneous wave function collapse, a major challenge in the foundations of quantum mechanics is to devise a relativistic quantum theory without observers. One of the difficulties is to reconcile nonlocality with relativity. I report about recen...
